WARNING: Does Your Website Look Terrible On A Mobile Phone?

The image above is a screen shot for one month's worth of mobile phone website search traffic to one of my local salon and spa websites. This is not regular website traffic from the internet search engines like Google. It's all mobile web browsing traffic.


It doesn't seem like a lot compared to websites that get thousands of hits daily, but this traffic is for a local business. 121 unique visitors went to our website via their mobile phones, and it was all free traffic ...qualified prospects for our salon and spa services. That is significant for any local business, and the numbers are increasing consistently!

As a matter of fact, mobile search traffic is increasing at enormous rates:  "42.5 million mobile Web visitors in July 2008 to 56.9 million in July 2009 according to The Nielsen Company."

Here's The Kicker...

Mobile Web browsing grew 110 percent in the U.S. last year and 148 percent worldwide as measured by growth in pageviews... My own test results show this as well.

When I first discovered this trend two years ago I realized that potential clients where having a terrible experience because our site not a mobile phone 'optimized' website.

In other words, you need a website that is optimized for mobile search if you want to capture this qualified traffic and turn them into customers or clients!

I ran a mobile phone website test of my site and here is the score:
